Celebrating World Water Day 2025 – "Glacier Preservation"
Project Location
NongVilay Village, Nong District, Savannakhet Province
Project Description
The Integrated Water Resources Management and Ecosystem-Based Adaptation in the Xe Bang Hieng River Basin and Luang Prabang City (IWRM-EbA) Project is actively working to promote sustainable water resource management and strengthen community resilience to climate change in Lao PDR. The project focuses on integrating ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) approaches with water management to protect natural resources while supporting local livelihoods. Key activities include organizing awareness campaigns, such as the annual World Water Day celebrations, to educate communities about the importance of conserving water, forests, and the environment. The project also conducts training workshops for local authorities, students, and residents to build their capacity in sustainable practices. In addition, community-led initiatives such as cleaning ditches, drainage canals, and collecting garbage in main villages are regularly organized to improve water quality and create a cleaner, healthier environment. Through these collaborative efforts, the IWRM-EbA Project aims to promote ecosystem restoration, enhance water security, and build a more climate-resilient future for the Xe Bang Hieng River Basin and Luang Prabang City.
