Project Location
Songkhone, Xonnabur, Champhone, Nong, and Sepon, Savannakhet Province.
Project Description
The IWRM-EbA Project, led by UNDP Lao PDR in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), aims to enhance climate resilience and foster the sustainable management of land and water resources in two highly vulnerable regions: the Xe Bang Hieng River Basin and Luang Prabang City. These regions are increasingly impacted by extreme weather events like floods and droughts, threatening both local communities and ecosystems. The project adopts a nature-based approach by integrating ecosystem conservation with water resource management. Through the preservation of biodiversity, restoration of natural ecosystems, and improvement of water infrastructure, the project contributes to regulating water flow, reducing flood risks, and maintaining soil fertility—ensuring long-term environmental sustainability. Additionally, it directly benefits local communities by improving access to clean water, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and empowering local stakeholders in resource management. By fostering collaboration among government agencies, development partners, and local communities, the IWRM-EbA Project strengthens climate resilience while balancing environmental protection with socio-economic development. Combining scientific research, traditional knowledge, and community engagement, the project is paving the way for a future where both people and nature thrive together
Project Outcomes & Impacts
From February 24 to March 3, 2025, the IWRM-EbA project supported the installation of loudspeakers in 13 target villages across 5 districts: Sungkhone, Chonburi, Champhone, Nong, and Sepon, in Savannakhet Province. The Natural Resources and Environment Office teams from these districts coordinated with local village authorities and ARIZOK COMPANY Co., Ltd. to successfully install the loudspeakers. Village representatives were also trained to manage, protect, and utilize the loudspeakers to maximize their effectiveness.

Objectives: •
🎤 Provide loudspeakers to 13 target villages, ensuring village organizations can disseminate information clearly and comprehensively to the public.
• 🔄 Monitor the installation and handover process of the loudspeakers to ensure proper use in the target villages.

To ensure the long-term success of this initiative, the project places a high priority on raising awareness and providing access to information. This approach helps ensure communities can effectively manage and protect natural resources and the environment for sustainable development.
